Sun Toys was originally founded under the name Akari Toys by Balbir Katyal, who had been in the toy industry for many years. The company began by importing toys from China, but Balbir Katyal had a vision to create their own line of toys that would be affordable, high-quality, and durable. They named their new brand Akari and began manufacturing toys. He was driven by the desire to manufacture toys of superior quality that could outperform the imports from China while being affordable. Due to his extensive experience in the toy industry and his unbridled passion for manufacturing, Mr. Katyal persevered in his efforts. Eventually, he succeeded in producing the first toy under the brand name Akari, the Space Gun, which remains a top-selling product in the Indian market. Under Balbir's leadership, Akari Toys quickly gained a reputation for producing innovative, high-quality toys that children loved. Unfortunately, Balbir Katyal had to step away from the company due to personal reasons, and his sons decided to switch back to importing toys rather than continuing to manufacture them and hence led to selling their moulds to some of the big names in the toy industry.
This strategy worked well for a time, but when the COVID-19 pandemic hit, the global supply chain was disrupted, and the Katyal family found themselves struggling to keep up with demand for toys. In response to these challenges, the Katyal sons decided to go back to their roots and start manufacturing toys once again under a new brand name – Sun Toys. They used their extensive experience in the industry to create a range of new products that were specifically designed to meet the needs of children and families during the pandemic.
Despite the challenges of starting a new manufacturing operation in the midst of a global crisis, Sun Toys quickly gained traction and began selling their products through local vendors, supply chains and eventually e commerce and high end retail stores. They started with a suitcase kitchen set and then expanded their product line to include guns, RC cars, rattles, and much more. Within just a few years, they had a variety of over 70 toys in their portfolio, all of which were made with the highest quality materials and manufacturing processes. They continued to innovate and expand their product line, adding new toys that were both fun and educational, and that encouraged children to learn, play, and explore.
Today, Sun Toys is known for its commitment to producing affordable, high-quality, and durable toys that children love. They continue to manufacture their products in-house, using only the best materials and manufacturing processes to ensure that their toys meet the highest standards of quality and safety.
